about lily

I’m a career counselor with nearly a decade of experience working with designers, engineers, and researchers at MIT. Most recently I was at the MIT Media Lab where I was lucky enough to work with the most incredible graduate students—from AI experts to interaction designers—on crafting their own unique career paths.

I’ve written over 200 career development articles for online publications such as The Muse, TIME, Newsweek, Forbes, Mashable, Lifehacker, and Inc. (You can find them here.) I’ve also planned or hosted 100+ career and professional development events, connected job and internship seekers with hiring managers and recruiters, and offered direct one on one coaching.

Though I can review a resume in my sleep, my favorite thing to work on with clients is interviewing. When I’m not indulging in a new book or video game, I’m thinking about, talking about, or writing about careers.

about function & craft

This newsletter is my attempt to write about careers without the limitations of something like a 3-step guide to resumes. The idea is to write more about career development than job searching. I’m still sorting out the shape of this thing, but it’ll probably be a bit more personal and slightly more rambling than stuff I’ve written before.

If you want to get in on this while I’m still trying to figure out what it is, please subscribe! You’ll get full access to the newsletter and website. Every new edition of the newsletter will go directly to your inbox, so you’ll never miss an update.
